Beech shoji, to span 63" x 89-1/2", with Port Orford Cedar kumiko, 2.0 mm Warlon Acrylic, our fancy kumiko pattern #18 and inlaid Ebony door pulls.

Detail shot of inlaid door pulls.

Detail shot of kumiko joinery.
The Warlon Acrylic looks dark because it is very translucent and showing the shadow behind the shoji screen since it's leaning up against a wall.

Villas

Shoji door in Cherry for a massage studio. This is a magnificent door, 44" wide and 90" tall, the photo really does not do the scale justice. We used a slightly wider frame to help keep the proportions looking balanced.

Pretty figure in the lower door panel.

Inlaid Ebony door pull, large size for this large shoji door.

The white Haruki Warlon paper is very lively.

Appleton-Jones

Custom Japanese shoji screens to span approximately 13 feet by 7 feet, built in Beech with Beech panels and 2.0 mm Warlon Acrylic insert material. The two outer shoji will be fixed with the two inner shoji sliding behind akin to a pocket door system. The Warlon Acrylic is very translucent hence hard to photograph. It looks dark due to the dark background.

Our client chose a kumiko pattern we'd done before, it was re-drawn to suit his shoji's proportions.

Close-up of the center circle.

These are smaller 'cafe style' shoji doors that needed the kumiko pattern to have similar proportions. These also have Warlon Acrylic since they swing and need the added rigidity.

Cherry shoji with 2.0 mm Amber Warlon acrylic and ebony pulls. We forgot to get a picture until they were in their cardboard packaging.. hence the interesting camera shot angle. New cherry is pretty light and will darken with age. There's an example on this page.
