Appleton-Jones

Custom Japanese shoji screens to span approximately 13 feet by 7 feet, built in Beech with Beech panels and 2.0 mm Warlon Acrylic insert material. The two outer shoji will be fixed with the two inner shoji sliding behind akin to a pocket door system. The Warlon Acrylic is very translucent hence hard to photograph. It looks dark due to the dark background.

Our client chose a kumiko pattern we'd done before, it was re-drawn to suit his shoji's proportions.

Close-up of the center circle.

These are smaller 'cafe style' shoji doors that needed the kumiko pattern to have similar proportions. These also have Warlon Acrylic since they swing and need the added rigidity.

Florida Shoji install

We received a really nice note with a link to a client's photo tour of their new place. They were inspired by this shoji screen install in our portfolio and incorporated that idea into their plan. Here are some of the pictures they sent.

Master bedroom and closet shoji screens along the main wall, surface mounted track install with integrated tracking trim. Shoji built in Beech with 0.3 mm Kinwashi Warlon paper and Japanese Cherry inlaid door pulls.

Guest / sitting room at end of the hall.
