Hurricane Sandy

So far news from friends and family back east has been good but so so many were not as lucky. I'm looking for ways to help and thought I'd share what I found.

Craig Newmark, of Craigslist, has put together a resource page for people looking for ways to help with disaster relief - http://www.crowdrise.com/sandyrelief .

American Red Cross - http://www.redcross.org/

You can check up on the charity of your choice using the Charity Navigator - http://www.charitynavigator.org/ . Not all charities will be listed but they do an admirable job of collating the information.

For area residents looking to volunteer - this Huffington Post page has what looks like a Twitter feed with schools and other organizations looking for help. Also noted are resources for people needing a place to stay.

Another Huffington Post page with information about FEMA programs and contact numbers.
