Appleton-Jones

Custom Japanese shoji screens to span approximately 13 feet by 7 feet, built in Beech with Beech panels and 2.0 mm Warlon Acrylic insert material. The two outer shoji will be fixed with the two inner shoji sliding behind akin to a pocket door system. The Warlon Acrylic is very translucent hence hard to photograph. It looks dark due to the dark background.

Our client chose a kumiko pattern we'd done before, it was re-drawn to suit his shoji's proportions.

These are smaller 'cafe style' shoji doors that needed the kumiko pattern to have similar proportions. These also have Warlon Acrylic since they swing and need the added rigidity.
