Custom shoji screens for three openings along a wall. Closet and guest bedroom shoji shown below.. we forgot to get a picture of the master shoji before they were packed! Shoji are built in Beech with Port Orford Cedar kumiko, Kinwashi Warlon paper and inlaid Japanese Cherry door pulls.

Caiseal Install

Cherry shoji with cherry kumiko, cherry lower shoji door panels, 0.3 mm Kinwashi Warlon Paper and Ebony inlaid door pulls installed as an office room divider. Left side shoji are about 46" x 81" and the right side shoji are 62" x 81". Intermediate stile added for rigidity on the wider shoji.

They completely transformed the space and our client was really happy with them.

Elegant Additions

Beech Shoji with the last of our double sided White Unryu Paper. Oh, I should mention, the blue tape marks the face of the shoji and will be removed after install... 

it's not a new kind of door pull.

A wall guide - new thing for us. The tracking will be installed on the wall surface above the opening and the shoji will bi-part with the guide installed at the base of the wall. The guide will never be seen behind, or under, the shoji due to it's small size.

Beech shoji screens with Beech lower door panels, Warlon Chiri paper and inlaid Japanese Cherry door pulls. Shoji will be installed with wood tracking as a room divider.

Bru

Shoji built for a 'cafe door' type install with gravity pivot hinges. Beech stained to match with Paper Leaf Lumicor insert material, a specialty laminate product.

Honolulu bound

Custom shoji screens built of Sapele to offer privacy over a wall of sliding glass doors. One of the requirements was air flow hence the open upper and lower kumiko (the blue is supposed to be sky and the green grass - to show they are open grids). The shoji on the left, in the drawing, has a Sapele panel instead of the Warlon Acrylic insert material. This and two other shoji panels will create a closet, of sorts, to store the glass sliding doors.

We didn't have space in the shop to lay out all the shoji for a picture.

A smaller shoji panel to close off a wall opening. It will be set in with Sapele trim all around.

The open kumiko were milled double thickness. The white background is the table the shoji is laying on.
