Below instead of inlaid door pulls Ed cut them into the stiles.
That makes it easier to handle once delivered.
Crates shown below, the reason they are so expensive to build-
they need to be stout to protect the shoji in transit.
Shoji screens built in Maple with White Warlon and inlaid Japanese Cherry door pulls.
Span is 60-1/2" x 95". These are hallway doors.
Elvis stepped in for scale. He is 6 feet tall.
Umm...... arachnid on the prowl?
Detail of inlaid door pull.
Beech closet and interior window shoji - though they almost look like natural Cherry. I think the combination of the wood tones and wall colors is very appealing.
Many thanks for our client for these pictures.
Shoji screens to be used as a room divider. Built in Beech with Waterfall Warlon and inlaid Japanese Cherry door pulls. Elvis stepped in for scale - he is 6 feet tall.
Ed used different backgrounds to show how translucent the Warlon is.
This is a new item for us. I think Warlon calls it 'rain' but as we're in the PNW and get plenty of that - Waterfall just sounded better to us.
I added this picture since it shows the stack of wood ready to go through the planer, the next step in becoming kumiko for the next order.
As usual, Elvis stepped in for scale, he is 6 ft tall. Shoji size is 33" x 75-9/16" x 1-3/8".
Each pair of shoji will be joined to function as one sliding door using the hardware pictured above. The picture below is of the joinery strap at the top of the shoji. These pictures are from a different order which is why the wood (Cherry not Beech) is different. Client has their own tracking. Pictures of Rockridge on the portfolio page.
Shoji screens built in Cherry with Chiri Warlon laminated paper and Ebony door pulls.
Shoji span is 98-1/2" x 96" to be used as a room divider.
Below Elvis stepped in for scale. He is 6 ft tall.
Detail shot of shoji below.
