Client Install

Custom shoji screens for a closet
Maple shoji screens for a tatami room. This was a tricky install due to the beam across the ceiling. The contractor installed a header and frame work to support the weight of the shoji. We made each pair of shoji a slightly different width so they would line up well with the shelving vertical dividers.

Shoji screens built in Beech with opaque white Warlon insert material for a closet.
Installed with roller upper tracking that is trimmed and lower wood tracking with inlaid u-channel. Shoji door spring guide pins engage the u-channel to secure the shoji at the base. These clients opted for side jambs to completely trim out the opening.

Beech shoji screens for glass doors windows
Shoji screens built in Beech with white Warlon insert material. These are installed in tracks in front of window walls and a sliding glass door. There are 17 shoji doors in all so we didn't have the room to lay them out for a picture. You can see the stack below.

The shoji doors installed with upper wood tracking and bottom rail door rollers with floor channel from Sugatsune.

Van delivery Japanese shoji doors
The shoji needed to go to Idaho and since crating this many shoji takes alot of material and effort, we delivered. We needed a break from the shop anyway. Ed built a surround in the back of the van so we could stack them securely and be sure they'd stay in place. Our clients graciously let us stay with them and took good care of us.
We must have been tired since we both totally forgot to get a picture.

Custom shoji screens Sapele

A beautiful set of shoji- made in Sapele, with white Warlon paper. Our shop lighting does not do these justice. And no photo can provide the silky feel these have.

Shoji lower door panels

Lovely Sapele bottom panels- the light will dance across these.

The pulls were cut directly into the wood.
